Phil Watson - better known as Philza or Ph1LzA - is a British MinecraftTwitch-streamer and Youtuber. He's best known for having the world record for longest lasting Minecraft Hardcore-world, with just over five years between him creating the world and him dying.

Due to the massive publicity created by his Hardcore-world death - which spread across the gaming landscape and even got picked up by major mainstream news outlets - Phil's channel blew up immensely, going from an average of 10 viewers per stream to averaging a few thousand, allowing him to quit his job and pursue streaming full-time.

As of right now, he has had four Hardcore worlds (listed as Series).

• Series 1 14th of February 2012 - May 4th 2013. Lost due to harddrive failure.
• Series 2 March 31st 2014 - April 30th 2019. The five-year one. Died to a baby zombie and a spider.

• Series 3 May 1st 2019 - May 10th 2019. Died to a glitch dropping him into the End-void.
• Series 4 May 10th 2019 - ongoing. This is the world he's currently playing in.

Aside from his Hardcore Let's Play, Phil also participates or has participated in many large group events involving Minecraft Youtubers. Most notable of these are SMP Earth, where he and Technoblade founded the Antarctic Empire, and Minecraft Championships, where he often teams up with Wilbur Soot and Technoblade. As of November 2020 he's also a member of the Dream SMP.

Phil streams his progress on his newest Hardcore world four days a week on his Twitch channel, and periodically uploads stream highlights and progress updates on his projects on his Youtube channel.

Philza provides examples of:

• Bittersweet Ending: The loss of his 5 year Hardcore world was devastating to him, of course, since he sunk thousands of hours into it over the course of those many, many years. However, the publicity he received from this event caused his viewership to skyrocket, and while many of those viewers left after a few months, many more stuck around. He's talked on stream about how, before his death, he was living paycheck to paycheck, couldn't afford to travel in order to marry his American fiancee, and was considering streaming less frequently in order to take on a second job to try and save up the money. After his death, the money he got from donations alone allowed him to quit his retail job to become a full-time streamer, travel to America to marry, and bring his new wife over to Britain, all without worrying about finances. He's repeatedly described the event as a 'blessing in disguise'.

• Happily Married: To Kristin Rosales, who he met via his Twitch streams prior to the 5 year Hardcore death. She currently lives with him, and often hangs out in his chat with the handle Misstrixtin.
• Rage Quit: Barely averted. Phil has said in interviews that right after his 5 year Hardcore death, he just shut off the computer and crawled in bed. He didn't even want to look at the game again. Fortunately, he ended up getting back into it a few days later.

• Team Dad: He's generally quite calm, and often serves as the Straight Man whenever he's in a group setting. Exaggerated in his solo streams, where his chat calls him 'dad' more often than they call him by his name, and he even refers to himself as 'dad'. This directly results in his wife being called 'mom', his mother being called 'grandma' and his sister being called 'auntie'.
  • In particular, he's the Team Dad for Sleepyboisinc (himself, Technoblade, Wilbur Soot, and later TommyInnit), to the extent that he's treated as their actual father in Dream SMP canon.
