Onenote Linked Notes



With Linked Notes, you can dock OneNote to one side of your computer screen so you can look at websites and apps on the other side. It's easier to take notes. On the menu bar, click Tools, then OneNote Linked Notes. At that moment, OneNote will start and will be docked on the right hand-side of the screen with Internet Explorer docked on the left side. One last choice: either chose a section and this will create a new page, or chose an existing page. Your screen should now be similar to the one below.

Take Linked Notes. OneNote really comes to the party when you have to work with other Microsoft Office apps. Two features help you use the apps side by side. Dock to Desktop.     Clicking the 'Anchor to OneNote' in other applications will jump to the OneNote pages which are associated with the current document.
    If there are many pages associated with the current document, OneNote will list them on the bottom.

    Clicking the anchor icon in OneNote will jump to the corresponding document position in other applications.

  • If your OneNote is Click-to-Run Office ( Free Edition OneNote, Office 365 OneNote, Office 2019, Any version installed directly from Microsoft Website ), you need to check 'Anchor to Click-to-Run OneNote'.

How to Use Anchor to OneNote


  1. Dock OneNote to the side of your desktop.
  2. Keep Access or Excel or Project or Publisher or Visio or Word in visible,
  3. Type your memo In OneNote,
  4. OneNote will communication with “anchor to OneNote” in Excel or word, by retrieve the current editing information, OneNote create an ANCHOR ( or a Link ) point to the current editing.
  5. Next day, you can click the ANCHOR, it will jump to the editing position.

In one project, we maybe use word documents, excel workbooks, webpage and so on.We can take notes which documents, workbooks, webpage in one OneNote Page.
